SCT is committed to producing concrete and engineering products that are essential to modern life, economic development and improved standards of living. In doing this, we are also committed to protecting our people, the environment and the well-being of clients and in communities where we operate.
To this end, we have adopted a three-step process
Manufacture precast concrete products for building and road construction
Recycle demolished and defective concrete products to produce aggregates for precast concrete products
Explore opportunities to use local materials such as rice husk, ash and glass waste powder as a partial replacement to cement in the production of precast concrete
Concrete is the world’s most widely used building material, and it’s also one of the world’s biggest sources of carbon emissions. About 7% of total global carbon dioxide emissions is attributed to concrete production (Glavind and Munch-Peterson 2000)
Population growth has resulted in increase in demand for buildings, roads, and other infrastructure, thereby generating tremendous amount of concrete waste
This constitutes 15-30% of the total amount of waste that ends up in landfill sites in many countries
Glorie Agyeman Duah, CEO
Implementing effective quality assurance process to minimize concrete waste
Recycling concrete waste from across Ghana that would have ended up at landfill sites
Using end products from the concrete waste recycle to produce precast concrete products
With pressure on landfills continuing to mount, the diversion of construction and demolition materials in concrete, remains an import area for environmental and economic benefits
